Do You Need to Invest in Podcast Equipment?

The simple answer is no. From beginners to salaried podcasters, we all start somewhere, even with your equipment. Some famous podcasters like Jenna Kutcher, host of the Goal Digger Podcast, started podcasting on her cell phone in her car.

There are so many apps like Anchor or Podbean, that lets podcasters record on their mobile device wherever they are.

Moving from mobile phones to microphones there are several affordable options for podcasters. Below are a few of our favorite.

Shure Microphone- $39

Blue Snowball Ice Microphone- $49

Audio-Technica Microphone- $87

Blue Yeti Microphone- $129

Do I need more than one microphone?

The simple answer to this, also no. It’s important to figure out how you will be recording and hosting your podcast and podcast interviews. Do you plan on having in person interviews? Do you plan on virtually recording? These are all questions you should consider before pulling the trigger on your podcast equipment. Now is a good time to decide if your show will have in person interviews or guests. If not, one microphone is more than okay for you. However, if you do see your podcast growing to having guests or multiple guests, having extra microphones will make it easier for you and your guests.

What about Recording and Editing Software?

Depending on your desktop or laptop, you most likely have free editing software already. But, other software that SB Studios recommends:

  1. Audacity

  2. Adobe

I Don’t Know how to Edit or Don’t Want to, Can I Hire Someone?
